- Transport in India’s Lakshadweep islands is expected to receive a boost with the launch of commercial seaplanes in the region. This development comes as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved SkyHop Aviation, a company that operates seaplanes, to start commercial seaplane services in India.
- Seaplanes have special features that help them land on and take off from waterbodies, making them a convenient mode of transport.
- The service will begin in the archipelago of Lakshadweep and will enhance transport between the archipelago and the Indian mainland as well as among the archipelago’s many islands.
