- Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based space company, achieved a noteworthy milestone with the launch of its Vikram 1 rocket, India’s first orbital rocket built privately.
- Among the notable aspects of the mission was the rocket’s unique payloads, which included a tiny gold rocket with microscopic sculptures of renowned Indian figures—Vikram Sarabhai, APJ Abdul Kalam and CV Raman.
- ‘Cosmic Bloom’, a lotus-shaped artwork made from gold and lab-grown diamonds, also journeyed aboard the rocket. It will enable scientists to understand how harsh space conditions, including vacuum and radiation, impact the materials.
- Scientists will use the information to innovate systems that can endure extreme space environments.
