India has exported a huge quantity of fox nuts, better known as makhana, to Canada, marking a step in the product’s journey towards international recognition. India’s Commerce Ministry announced that 7 metric tonnes of the product were exported to Canada via sea. The consignment was shipped to Canada via Mundra Port in Gujarat. Fox nuts, popular for their health benefits, are among the most important crops of Bihar. This step is expected to enhance business opportunities for Bihar’s farmers and open pathways for the product in new markets. The export also reflects the potential of Indian regional products on the international stage.
