But with the current Indian population estimated to be 140 crore, is 20% enough to save India from the next wave of infection? To help people get vaccinated, especially since vaccination for the 18 to 44 age group has been slow, companies across India have joined the fight.
Here’s what various corporates have done:
- Companies such as Tech Mahindra, TCS, Swiggy and Maruti have set up vaccination centres for their employees and families.
- French IT service Capgemini has partnered with Aditya Birla Group, Reliance, Apollo, MGM and Rainbow to facilitate vaccination drives across Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and NCR.
- Infosys has collaborated with 130 hospitals and taken on the vaccination costs for employees in India.
- Uber is offering free rides to those who are headed to get the jab.
- Amazon has covered the vaccination costs of not just its employees, but also its drivers, trucking partners and their dependents.
- PayTM has not only given all its frontline field service executives their jabs, but it has also set up dedicated teams to help with medical and financial support.
- BharatPe is giving a ₹300 instant cash-back to its merchants who upload a scan of their vaccination certificate via the BharatPe app.
- Dominos is offering a ₹400 discount, via its app, to those who have taken the vaccine.
