Ted Turner, known for establishing Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) and founding the famous news channel Cable News Network (CNN), passed away on May 6 at the age of 87. Turner was renowned for his revolutionary contributions to the media sector, especially the news industry. In his 20s, Turner took charge of his family’s advertising business and went on to undertake other business ventures. Among his ventures was purchasing an Atlanta television station. With the introduction of several programmes and shows, Turner enhanced the channel. In the year 1980, Turner launched CNN, the first channel that provided news coverage 24 hours a day, transforming the news industry. The channel eventually grew and soon, several other channels began adopting its model.
