NS Raja Subramani Takes Charge as India’s Chief of Defence Staff

Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, a seasoned army officer, has been appointed as the chief of defence staff (CDS) of India.

Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, a seasoned army officer, has been appointed as the chief of defence staff (CDS) of India. He replaced Anil Chauhan and is the third officer to serve in this capacity. 57-year-old Subramani also serves as secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Military Affairs. Subramani was commissioned into the Garhwal Rifles in 1985 and he has served in various capacities, including general officer commanding of II Corps and vice chief of the army staff, during his distinguished career of around 40 years. Subramani has experience working in numerous terrains and has been instrumental in ‘Operation Rhino’ and various other assignments during his career.
