- Several events were held to celebrate the birth centenary of the renowned Indian cartoonist Mario Miranda. Miranda, who passed away in 2011, was popular for creating vibrant illustrations and amusing cartoon characters. His work often reflected Goan culture.
- Miranda was born on May 2, 1926, in Daman. This year marked his centenary. Among the events held was an exhibition named ‘Growing Up in Mario’s World’ in Goa.
- Additionally, the Department of Posts launched four picture postcards and a commemorative cancellation as a philatelic tribute to the cartoonist.
- A philatelic tribute is when postal material, such as stamps, is specially designed to commemorate people or events.
