Based on a report released by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Earth is expected to exceed the 1.5°C global warming target of the Paris Agreement over the coming years. The report indicates warming peaks of approximately 1.8°C above pre-industrial levels even with countries adhering to their climate targets and plans. According to scientists, current emission rates make surpassing the 1.5°C limit inevitable, raising concerns of rising sea levels, wildfires, floods and other disasters. The UN plans on tackling the issue by limiting the intensity and the duration of the overshoot as much as possible. It has suggested strategies such as afforestation, the extraction of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to address the situation.

Cows contribute to global warming too. Methane, a greenhouse gas, produced during cows’ digestive process, is emitted through their burps.
