The 18th BRICS Summit, held in New Delhi in September 2026, concluded with the unanimous adoption of the 140-point New Delhi Declaration. The 11-member group opposed unilateral tariffs and sanctions and called for stronger global trade rules. Instead of creating a common BRICS currency, members supported greater use of their national currencies for international trade. The declaration also condemned terrorism and called for reforms to the UN Security Council, IMF and World Bank to give developing economies greater representation. Members also agreed to promote inclusive and accessible artificial intelligence (AI).
