- Nepal experienced devastating flash floods on August 26, causing severe destruction in Dhading, Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), a glacial collapse led to a sudden surge in the Trishuli and Bhote Koshi rivers.
- The enormous gush of debris and water severely damaged houses and infrastructure along the rivers.
- The disaster caused more than 1,000 deaths and close to 4,000 people, including Indian tourists, went missing.
- In a miracle amidst the tragedy, Rajendra Dawadi, principal of Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in Nuwakot, saved 900 children and staff members just before the school building was washed away in the floods.
