Iran’s energy sector is set for potential revival with the discovery of over 7.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the country’s Fars province. The discovery, which was announced by Iranian oil minister Mohsen Paknejad, is expected to improve the energy landscape in Iran, which has been severely impacted due to US and Israeli attacks on the country. Based on the announcement, approximately 5.7 trillion cubic feet of the gas is extractable, which will serve as a valuable energy resource and enhance the country’s natural gas production in the future. The gas has been identified as ‘sweet natural gas’, which comprises lesser quantities of impurities, including hydrogen sulphide, making its treatment more economical.
