- To enhance scientific research across various domains, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated three PARAM Rudra supercomputers set up at Delhi, Kolkata and Pune on September 26.
- These supercomputers, costing nearly `130 crore, have been built as part of the National Supercomputing Mission. They have been installed at the Inter-University Accelerator Centre in New Delhi, the SN Bose Centre in Kolkata and the Giant Metre Radio Telescope in Pune.
- These domestically built supercomputers will be used to conduct research in various fields including cosmology and material science.
- In addition to the supercomputers, Modi also launched a high-performance computing (HPC) system, focussed on gathering important climate and weather-related data.
