Archaeologists have found the remains of a soldier they believe could be the renowned Charles de Batz de Castelmore d’Artagnan in a church in Maastricht, Netherlands. Charles de Batz de Castelmore d’Artagnan, popularly known as d’Artagnan, was a French musketeer who served the French King Louis XIV and lost his life during the siege of Maastricht over 350 years ago. Details of the discovery, such as the soldier’s grave being situated under a place where an altar existed previously and a musket ball injury, indicate that the soldier could be d’Artagnan. However, further studies are required to verify the discovery.
