The roof of the velodrome in the Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was destroyed by an enormous fire on April 8. The flames blazed through the roof, enveloping the place with smoke and triggering panic. Numerous firefighters worked to contain the ravaging fire and the disaster was eventually brought under control. The site served as the venue for the 2016 Olympic Games and is used to host events and carry out training. According to authorities, the Olympic Museum located inside the velodrome and the velodrome’s cycling track weren’t impacted.
