
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1 medium onion or spring onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed or finely chopped
- 1 fresh red chilli
- 5 ½-inch tofu or chicken pieces
- 3 tablespoons soya sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon shrimp paste (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
METHOD
- In a small pan, add the soya sauce and brown sugar, stir them together and turn the heat off when the sauce thickens.
- In a larger pan, heat the oil, add the onions and garlic and let them cook for a minute.
- Add the red chillies followed by the tofu or chicken.
- Add the prepared sweet soya sauce, some crushed black pepper and shrimp paste (optional) and stir well.
- Now add the rice and mix well. Place a lid and let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Serve with a boiled or fried egg and some steamed broccoli.
Note: You can add more vegetables of your choice like carrots, capsicum and others to this dish.
