Indian Army Officer Major Radhika Sen Receives UN Award

Major Radhika Sen, an Indian Army officer, received the 2023 United Nations (UN) Military Gender Advocate of the Year award on May 30.

Major Radhika Sen, an Indian Army officer, received the 2023 United Nations (UN) Military Gender Advocate of the Year award on May 30. The award recognises her contributions to encourage gender equality across UN peacekeeping activities. Sen, who was born in Himachal Pradesh, served with a UN peacekeeping mission called the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) from March 2023 to April 2024. She is the second Indian peacekeeper to be bestowed with the prestigious honour after Major Suman Gawani, who was presented the awarded in 2019. Sen, who is currently 31 years old, was commissioned into the Indian Army in 2016.
