To improve education and attendance in Punjab’s government schools, the state government intends to start an initiative that keeps parents aware of their child’s school attendance. The initiative involves notifying parents of their child’s absenteeism through short message service (SMS), helping them keep track of attendance. Punjab education minister Harjot Singh Bains announced the initiative during a mega parent-teacher meeting held across schools in the state. According to officials, this move will encourage regular attendance and enhance educational outcomes.
