In a gubernatorial reshuffle, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, a former diplomat, has been appointed as Delhi’s lieutenant governor (LG). Sandhu, who succeeded VK Saxena in the post, is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1988 batch. He has rich diplomatic experience, which includes serving as India’s high commissioner to Sri Lanka and India’s ambassador to USA. Sandhu also served in the role of Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations and his international experience is expected to help him deal with administrative, economic and various other challenges in his new role. Serving as Delhi’s 23rd LG, Sandhu will work towards developing the city and will also contribute to Delhi’s role in organising international events in the future.
