Agnikul Cosmos, a space startup headquartered in Chennai, is set to receive expert support with S Somanath, the former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), coming on board as a director. He is expected to be instrumental in guiding the company for Mission 02, a mission that intends to test technologies associated with the reuse of rockets. The mission focusses on recovering the first-stage booster of the rocket by monitoring and managing its landing. It also involves enabling the upper stage of the rocket to remain in orbit as a working platform instead of turning into space debris. Somanath will also join Nandan Nilekani in the six-member task force to overhaul India’s public examination system and stop paper leaks.
