- To address the issues faced by senior citizens, Kerala is setting up a Senior Citizens Commission, becoming the first state in India to do so.
- Through this initiative, undertaken under the Kerala State Senior Citizens Commission Act, 2025, the Kerala government hopes to enhance senior citizens’ quality of life.
- The initiative will also empower senior citizens and solve problems they face, such as loneliness and mistreatment.
- Furthermore, it will make efforts to harness the expertise of senior citizens for social development and support the government in formulating initiatives dedicated to improving their lives.
