- The Indian government is planning to introduce an initiative known as Sahkar Taxi that will enhance the earnings of auto, bike and cab drivers.
- The main goal of this service is to ensure that drivers are able to earn better by retaining their income instead of sharing it with ride-hailing platforms such as Uber and Ola.
- This initiative is set to be cooperative-based and will address commission fees and other concerns from private ride-hailing platforms, safeguarding drivers’ financial well-being.
- A cooperative insurance company will also be set up, which will provide security to drivers and other people in the cooperative field.
