
INGREDIENTS
- 100 grams firm tofu
- 3 spring onions, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for cooking
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted
FOR THE TOFU MARINADE
- 1 tablespoon soya sauce (or tamari sauce)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons corn starch
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon chilli garlic sauce
- Salt to taste
FOR THE STIR FRY SAUCE
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon corn starch
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger garlic
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon soya sauce
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
METHOD
- Cut the tofu into cubes, pat them dry with a tissue and set them aside.
- In a bowl, add all the ingredients for the marination, mix well and add the tofu. Keep it aside for 5 minutes.
- Mix all the stir fry sauce ingredients in a bowl.
- In a pan, add some oil and sauté the tofu well on all sides until the pieces become crisp. Take them out.
- Add some more oil to the pan and toss in the spring onions. Add the stir fry sauce and let it cook for a bit.
- Add the sautéed tofu and let everything cook together for 3 to 4 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
- Sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top and serve with steamed rice or noodles.
