Based on forecasts, agencies such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and climatologists have predicted the development of a climate phenomenon called El Niño during the second half of 2026. The El Niño phenomenon is marked by a higher than-normal warming of parts of the Pacific Ocean’s surface and usually persists for around a year, and at times even longer. Climatologists have recorded an increase in ocean temperature in parts of the Pacific Ocean, suggesting the likely development of the El Niño event, which is expected to be intense. El Niño events influence weather conditions and can also trigger floods and droughts, making prediction and preparedness vital.
