The Delhi government has introduced new changes to exam rules and subjects for class 9 students from the 2026-2027 academic session, emphasising practical education and the development of skills. The new framework will include six main subjects, based on which promotion to class 10 will be decided. Vocational education, which is expected to enhance students’ practical skills and equip them for future careers, has been mandated. Additionally, one of the languages that was part of the three-language combination in class 8 will be regarded as the third language, also called R3, in class 9. Evaluation for this language will take place at the school level.
