The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has planned to introduce the three language formula in schools, with the aim of enhancing students’ proficiency in regional languages. As per this initiative, students will be required to study three languages compulsorily, out of which two languages must be Indian. Subjects such as English and French will be considered as foreign languages and if students opt for such languages, they will be required to study two Indian languages together with them. This initiative will begin from class 6 and will be implemented from the 2026-2027 academic year.
