Talukdar, who belongs to Assam, has over 30 years of experience in the field of conservation. He is famous for his efforts towards the conservation of rhinoceroses. His conservation work also won him the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival Commission (SSC) Harry Messel Award for Conservation Leadership.
