Prabhjeet Singh has been appointed as the managing director of OpenAI in India. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, he began his career in finance before moving into management consulting. In 2015, he joined Uber, where he rose to become president of Uber India and South Asia, leading the company’s operations across India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. After more than 10 years with Uber, Singh will join OpenAI in September. He will oversee the company’s growth in India and work to make artificial intelligence more accessible to businesses, educational institutions, government organisations and millions of users across the country.
