- To address the issue of the excessive use of digital devices and the internet, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, is planning to create a special facility, called the Centre for Advanced Research on Addictive Behaviours (CAR-AB).
- This facility will be the first of its kind in India and will help the youth and children deal with technology addictions.
- This initiative has received approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and will be focussed on helping adolescents and children cope with mental health problems stemming from prolonged screen time.
- CAR-AB will also help healthcare professionals and educators to support youngsters in combatting these unhealthy behaviours.
