An enormous 3D printer that can print objects over 90ft in length was unveiled by the University of Maine, USA, in April. Named the ‘Factory of the Future’, this printer is the world’s largest polymer 3D printer and is capable of constructing homes, parts of homes and other infrastructure. The printer boasts a printing capacity of around 227kgs an hour and can smoothly transition between numerous printing operations, reducing printing time. Researchers plan to use recycled materials as 3D printing feedstock in the future, which will increase the machine’s applications.
