The World Bank has approved a $300 million loan to upgrade the quality of education in Chhattisgarh’s government-operated schools. Called the Chhattisgarh Accelerated Learning for a Knowledge Economy Operation (CHALK) project, this initiative aims to help around 4 million students from poor communities in Chhattisgarh and manage the growing demand for science and commerce education across the state’s senior secondary schools. The project will also ensure that students of all grades have access to education, proper school infrastructure facilities, trained teachers and capable school management. The project will support the development of approximately 600 model composite schools in the state and residential facilities will be provided to staff and students in schools located in remote areas.
