Like most books of ancient wisdom, the Mahabharat lays great stress on self-control. Of this, controlling one’s tongue is the most important part.
We have the power to choose our words. Our speech can be full of love, or it can be full of violence. Our speech should be free of harshness not just in its choice of words and its tone, but also in its spirit. The Mahabharat says about harsh words:
Vaksayaka vadananniishpatanti, yairahatah shochat
