Indian Air Force Wing Commander Awarded Vayu Sena Medal

Wing Commander Akshay Saxena has been bestowed with the Vayu Sena Medal, a prestigious award recognising courageous acts of members of the Indian Air Force.

Wing Commander Akshay Saxena has been bestowed with the Vayu Sena Medal, a prestigious award recognising courageous acts of members of the Indian Air Force. Saxena received the award for his significant role in combatting piracy in the Arabian Sea in 2024. Under Operation Sankalp of the Indian Navy, he was involved in tackling a ship that was controlled by pirates who were attacking other vessels in the Arabian Sea. The mission also involved rescuing crewmembers. Saxena displayed exceptional bravery and successfully executed the mission, capturing the pirates under challenging conditions.
