The airline Air India has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Indian airline to provide customers with in-flight Wi-Fi on flights within India.
This service will be provided free of charge at the outset and will be available on the airline’s narrowbody fleet, which is aircraft with a single central aisle. It will enable passengers to work while travelling and use the internet for social and work purposes.
Offering in-flight Wi-Fi was difficult for airlines due to technical issues, regulatory barriers and the expenditure involved in establishing the infrastructure for the service.
This change marks a major advancement in the aviation sector as it enables passengers to stay connected during domestic air travel.
