When the Seeds had a Race

Alia Singh, Class 2, GIS, Bangalore

One day the sun told a flower, “You must choose which seeds of yours will get the soil around you, because all your baby seeds cannot grow in the small space there.”
Unable to choose between her baby seeds, the flower asked them to have a race. “I want to see who can go the farthest,” she said.
Some seeds rushed deep down into the soil without thinking. Others paused and thought and didn’t go too far inside. The rest of them copied whatever their favourite sibling did. Very soon, only very few seeds grew to see the sun above them.
The mother flower told the ones who asked about their brothers, “They couldn’t make it though they did the same thing as you did because everyone’s life is different and each being needs to think for itself before it acts. So always think before you do anything, smart work is the only thing that can get you ahead in life.”
