What is war?
An excuse for more power?
The fire spreads further each advancing hour
Blessings of ash and cinders
in a never-ending shower
Have they succumbed to
the heady sense of control?
For it’s gone before it settles.
Why do the great orators who promised huge goals
Busy themselves and become traitors?
After all, their country also bears the brunt
The rubble stays mute, so do the corpses,
So do the children whose schools lie in ashes
Don’t forget the young dreams
that all came down crashing.
No one opens their mouth in utter shock
As they fear, the nightmare gets real if they talk
The whole community hopes for stillness
Only escape from the growing bleakness
How ignorant of them.
The remains of buildings increase alarmingly
The cries of the wounded echo disturbingly
Please, excuse their agony, they thought
something might change
They should’ve known better
than to act like this is not deranged
Though they only request sympathy,
These victims were only rewarded with apathy Mr President, how do you hear the applause
but not the mourning?
The grim sights should have got your
stomach churning
Why can’t there be an alliance
instead of being an adversary?
The world pleads for your realisation,
and for overdue mercy.
