To enhance students’ understanding of geography, weather stations will be installed in 13 schools in Ernakulam, Kerala. These stations are being installed as part of the Samagra Shiksha programme, under the chief minister’s 100-day plan. Stations will be installed in two vocational higher secondary schools and 11 higher secondary schools.
Students will be taught to record wind speed and direction, humidity, daily maximum and minimum temperatures and rainfall with the help of weather instruments. Each school will be provided with ₹48,225 for the installation. The project aims at improving students’ understanding of microclimatic changes and their effect on the environment.
