Scientists at the University of California San Diego, USA, have developed a device that can monitor various health statistics such as lactate levels, glucose and many others in real-time. This device will help users track their blood sugar levels in real-time and observe changes in the levels with an increase in consumption of sweet beverages and other foods. Since the device will be worn on the arm, it will also track muscle fatigue during a workout.
The device can be applied to the skin using a patch of microneedles, which will sense the biomolecules in the interstitial fluid (the fluid that surrounds the cells beneath the skin). The needles will sample this fluid and send the data to a custom smartphone application wirelessly.
