Vishwakarma Yojna, a scheme that aims at supporting craftspeople and traditional skilled workers, has been approved by the Union Cabinet. With an allocation of `13,000 crore, this scheme aims at benefiting families of approximately 30 lakh craftspeople including blacksmiths, carpenters and weavers. The launch has been scheduled for Vishwakarma Jayanti, which will be celebrated on September 17. Eligible individuals can take loans of up to ₹2 lakhs at a concessional interest rate of 5% under this scheme.
