On September 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Varanasi’s first international cricket stadium, which is set to be themed around Lord Shiva. The stadium will have floodlights resembling tridents, a crescent-shaped roof and a lounge that will resemble a ‘damaru’, an instrument associated with Shiva. The stadium will be located in Rajatalab in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and will spread across 30 acres. It will be constructed at a cost of ₹450 crore and will have 30,000 seats. The construction of the stadium is expected to be completed in around two years.
