To encourage sustainability and tackle pollution, the Uttar Pradesh government has planned to develop a bioplastic park in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district.
The park will span 1,000 hectares and will be constructed with an investment of ₹2,000 crore. The park aims to advance plastic-related research and manufacturing and develop new plastic technologies.
It will be built by Balrampur Chini Mills through a public-private partnership model.
Bioplastics are eco-friendly alternatives to conventional plastics and are produced from biological or plant matter such as sugar beets, sugarcane, potatoes, corn, vegetable oil and wood. They can be used to make a range of products including electronic components and packaging materials.
