To enhance animals’ well-being, scientists from Europe have developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered system that can decode pigs’ vocalisations. This system is capable of interpreting pigs’ squeals, snorts, oinks and grunts, enabling their owners to understand their emotions. According to scientists, a pig’s brief grunting sound denotes a positive feeling, while a pig’s squealing could be a sign that it is experiencing unease or stress. This new system is expected to help pig owners identify if their pigs are experiencing negative emotions and respond accordingly.
