The Spoilt Generation

Reena Lakhaiyar, Class 9, St Arvindo Academy, Ranchi, Jharkhand

Our generation is the generation of Information Technology. Many things were changed from the era of the 1960s till today; from gilli danda to cricket, huts to apartments, telegrams to mobile phones, letters to WhatsApp and many more. But one thing that has still not changed is the Parent’s love towards their children. Parents’ love can outlast anything. Their love still lasts when all else has fallen.
Today, I’m taken aback that I’m living in that generation where people don’t respect their parents when they are grown up.
I hate that today’s generation, phones are smart but people are dumb. Today, a child of 8 years old has Facebook, Twitter, IPHONE and IPOD, when I was 8, I had a colouring book, crayons and an imagination. Today, we travel our journey on our own, but at the same time, we forget that the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step and that a single step was taught by holding the fingers of our parents only.
Today, we people neglect our parents and send them to the old age home. But this is wrong, we shouldn’t forget that our parents are only those who always cared for us and supported us in all the ups and downs that came in our life. They always say, “Kya hua jo tum gire? Hum hai naa tumhe sambhalne ke liye… kya hua jo dunia tumhare khilaff hai? humlog hai naa tumhe swarne ke liye!”
Parents always love us more than anyone else can do. They always motivate just by saying, “Aspire to inspire before you expire.” Having parents is the most precious and gigantic gift that God has presented us. It is one of the most pleasant feelings one can have. What we are today is all because of our parents. So we should respect, care and love them till our last breaths.
