- To prevent the degradation of major water bodies and ocean-related ecosystems, Mumbai has planned to implement a plastic-capturing method.
- The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and a non-profit organisation that combats plastic pollution called The Ocean Cleanup have partnered for this initiative. The effort involves establishing barriers that stop huge amounts of plastic from polluting the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea.
- It aims to address the vast quantities of plastic waste generated by the city.
- According to officials, these barriers will first be set up at waterways in Trombay and Malad.
