India won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, defeating South Africa by a narrow margin.
With this win, India became the first country to win the tournament without losing a single match.
Virat Kohli was declared the Man of the Match as he led the win with 76 runs in 59 balls.
Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from the international T20 format after the match. Team coach Rahul Dravid also hung up his boots after the win.
Team India brought home a prize of $2.45 million (₹20.42 crore) and an additional $31,154 (approximately ₹26 lakh) for each match won, excluding the semi-finals and finals.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced a grand prize of ₹125 crore for Team India’s victory.
