- India won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, defeating South Africa by a narrow margin.
- With this win, India became the first country to win the tournament without losing a single match.
- Virat Kohli was declared the Man of the Match as he led the win with 76 runs in 59 balls.
- Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from the international T20 format after the match. Team coach Rahul Dravid also hung up his boots after the win.
- Team India brought home a prize of $2.45 million (₹20.42 crore) and an additional $31,154 (approximately ₹26 lakh) for each match won, excluding the semi-finals and finals.
- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced a grand prize of ₹125 crore for Team India’s victory.
