Asha Jhaveri, the woman who shaped the reputation of Swati Snacks, passed away on June 14 at the age of 79. Swati Snacks, a restaurant known for its iconic vegetarian dishes, started off as a small business in Tardeo, Mumbai. It began as a simple setup launched by Jhaveri’s mother, Minakshi Jhaveri. It focussed on serving chaat items such as ragda pattice and sev puri that were home-made. Following her mother’s passing in 1979, Asha Jhaveri took charge of the business and grew it into an iconic brand. The business has flourished, reaching Ahmedabad too.
