Once upon a time in a big green jungle, all the animals were very excited. The biggest event of the year was here- the jungle carnival.
There were games, music, dancing, delicious food, and colorful decorations everywhere. Every animal was invited, except the elephant. “Sorry, elephant, “said the gatekeeper Lion. “You are too big, too loud. You take too much space.” The elephant, whose name was Gerald, looked down sadly.
Just then, his friend, Peabody the Peacock, had a clever idea. “Why don’t I ride your back? You can be my jungle ride.” Elephant smiled. The peacock climbed on his back, spreading his beautiful feathers like a rainbow. Soon, little animals wanted to ride the elephant Gerald.
The gatekeeper lion laughed. “Well, a carnival does need a ride. Come on in. ” Inside, elephants saw the animals enjoying games and ride. There was also a singing competition about to begin. The birds sang sweetly, the monkeys clapped, and everybody cheered. Gerald wanted to sing, but kept quiet. He thought this was so unfair.
On the way back home, he had an idea. Next week, he organized his very own jungle friendship carnival. He invited everyone. At the entrance, there was a sign. Everyone is welcome, no matter your size, shape, voice, or colour.
There were tall games for giraffes, tiny races for mouses and high swings for monkeys.
When it was time for the singing contest, the elephant smiled and said, Every voice is special. The birds sound, wolves howled, and the frogs croaked. Then Gerald sang in his own booming voice. It was loud, but it was joyful. Everyone then sang together.
The animals realized they had been wrong to leave Gerald out. They apologized and promised that they would always now include everyone. From that day, the jungle carnival had only one rule. Everyone belonged, and Gerald the elephant was the happiest animal. Now, no one will ever say, strictly no elephants. The end.
