Holi, Usually celebrated all over India, Is also known as the festival of colours. On the day of Holi, people play with different colours and water. This festival is celebrated according to Indian calendar. The history of Holi originated in the ancient times. History enumerate that the evil king, Hiranyakashipu wanted to kill his own son, Prahlad. Because he worshipped Lord Vishnu, but Prahlad was saved by Lord Vishnu‘s divine intervention. Once Hiranyakashipu’s sister, Holika tried to kill Prahlad, but the fire killed Holika and Prahlad was saved. In the memory of this occurrence people light bonfires to symbolise the victory of good or evil. The next day, people play with colours and water and dance to celebrate this festival. It’s a time to forget grudges and spread love and happiness. Holy is not just a festival of colours, but also symbol of unity, forgiveness and love .
