India-born Laxman Narasimhan has been appointed as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Starbucks, the world’s biggest coffeehouse chain. He joined Starbucks Corporation on October 1 and will work closely with Howard Schultz, whom he replaced, before he joins the board on April 1, 2023. Narasimhan has served as the CEO of Reckitt Benckiser, a company that owns well-known brands such as Harpic and Dettol. Prior to that, he worked with PepsiCo, where he held several senior positions including that of global chief commercial officer. He also took care of the company’s operations in Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. Narasimhan worked with consulting firm McKinsey & Company for 19 years before joining PepsiCo in 2012.
