Starbucks Appoints New CEO

American executive Brian Niccol has been appointed as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the multinational coffeehouse chain, Starbucks.

American executive Brian Niccol has been appointed as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the multinational coffeehouse chain, Starbucks. Niccol, who has extensive experience in the food industry, replaced Laxman Narasimhan, Starbucks’ former Indian-origin CEO. Before joining Starbucks, Niccol worked as the CEO of Chipotle Mexican Grill and contributed significantly to the company’s growth. Niccol has also been associated with Yum! Brands and was responsible for leading many of its divisions including Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Niccol is an alumnus of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Miami University, USA. As CEO of Starbucks, Niccol will fly 1,600kms by private jet from his home in California to the company’s headquarters in Seattle to work in office three days a week instead of relocating to Seattle.
