A 23-year-old woman named Sripathi made history by becoming the first tribal woman to be appointed as a civil judge in the state of Tamil Nadu. Sripathi, who is from Puliyur village near Jawadhu Hills in Tamil Nadu, belongs to the Malayali tribe. Despite facing numerous financial challenges and marrying at a young age, she remained determined to pursue her studies and obtained a bachelor of law degree. Sripathi achieved the distinction of becoming the state’s first tribal woman civil judge after successfully passing the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) civil judge examination. In 2023, just days after giving birth to her child, Sripathi travelled to Chennai to attend her last examination.
